Have you ever stopped to think what a career might be like as part of the F&B team at IHG? Well you’re about to find out, we were lucky enough to catch up with Angela to find out exactly what she’s been up to. We talk typical days in F&B, the best thing about working at IHG, hobbies, advice, goals and more.
What’s a typical day like for you Angela?
“I mainly work morning shifts, I love to welcome our guests for breakfast at the desk and get them their first coffee. I have been working as an all-round F&B employee for two years now and I really love the personal contact I have with our guests. We have a lot of regular guests and it excites me being able to amaze them every time they visit us. But of course I also like to surprise our non-regular guests by giving them a wow experience for example by remembering how they like their coffee just after their first breakfast visit.”
Angela, Food & Beverage team member, Crowne Plaza Amsterdam South
What do you like about working for IHG?
“I really like the amount of responsibility our hotel gives to their employees. The structure and standards of IHG give a great foundation for our daily tasks. I also love our team spirit, we work really well together!”
What are your career goals with IHG?
“I would love to become a Food and Beverage Supervisor in the near future and I am currently working on my skills to achieve that goal!”
What advice would you give someone just starting out in your role?
“Take your time to learn everything; you’ll receive a lot of information in the first week so take your time to absorb it all and to learn the procedures correctly.”
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“I am currently taking horse-riding classes and I love it. I love the atmosphere in the riding school and taking care of the horses. It helps me to relax which has a good influence on my performance at work.”
What is your life motto?
“Be yourself, make an effort and work hard.”
