Celebrating Difference – Jens Explores IHG’s Unique Company Culture

As a Guest Relation Manager, Jens Hesper plays a big part in the creating the lasting impression that our guests take with them when they leave. Across the world, Guest Relation Managers like Jens are making sure all IHG guests are made very welcome, cared for and respected. We asked Jens to share his experiences of working with IHG.

What do you love most about working for IHG?
It has to be the great team spirit. I’m surrounded by some fantastic colleagues, and I feel really supported, both in my work each day and in my personal development.

How has working at IHG helped you progress your career?
It’s been very helpful to have the chance to get frequent performance reviews and to have development plans created to improve my personal skills. There’s also plenty of opportunities to be involved in new activities and projects to increase my knowledge.

What skills do you think have you obtained or developed while working at IHG?
My personal development plan has led me to greatly increase my leadership skills and led to a wider awareness of what’s needed to succeed in such a fast-paced sector as hospitality.

 

What three words would you use to describe working at IHG?
There are plenty I could use from, but the three that best sum things up for me are “challenging”, “satisfying”, and “teamwork”.

What do you love most about your job?
I have the pleasure of helping guests from many different countries, all with different needs and expectations. And I love working with colleagues with a huge variety of skills, backgrounds and experience. Every day is different and helps me learn new skills.

How would you describe the company culture here at IHG?
Everyone is treated as an individual, whether they are an employee or a guest. Diversity is celebrated and no-one is judged or overlooked. It’s a really positive atmosphere, and very inclusive.
