A little taste of your day-to-day

The Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator will work closely with the General Manager and hotel leadership to drive property wide performance in public safety and security. The role will include an ongoing focus on workplace safety in line with Australian standards and lead the hotel security. The successful candidate will require prior experience in the application of Australian Workplace Safety within a diverse setting. 

Your day to day and key priorities will include;

  • Engaging, consulting and effectively communicating with the leadership team to embed security risk management processes, increase awareness and enhance the proactive security and safety culture.

  • Implement and embed the Hotels Emergency Response procedures and protocols and leading the emergency response team, ensuring IHG Incident Management processes are in place.

  • Lead the health and safety of the Hotel colleagues, guests and visitors.

  • Complete all reporting, documentation and system management required to with regards to Safety & Security and maintaining compliance across these areas.

  • Conferring with management, colleagues and guests to detect breaches of fire or safety or other incidents and accidents; and identifying required areas of improvement.

  • Creating opportunities to interact with the team and guests to gain feedback and build relationships to understand how the Hotel can increase guest satisfaction and security.

 

You will have well developed organisational, report and policy writing skills with excellent communication and presentation skills along with sound problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolutions.

You must be able to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility, maturity, empathy and sensitivity to deal with difficult and stressful situations whilst maintaining a safe and secure environment for colleagues, visitors and guests. You will be available to attend the hotel in person for after-hours critical incidents as required.

 

What we need from you

  • Previous experience in leading teams in hotel environment 

  • Knowledge of CCTV, Fire Control Panel and Access Control systems, fire systems and detectors

  • Certificate IV Work & Safety with a comprehensive understanding of WHS with the ability to Identify and Manage Risks 

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse and resolve operational issues 

  • Current Queensland Security Licence

  • Current First Aid Certificate

  • Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management or Certificate III – Security Operations

  • Senior First Aid Certificate or higher

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate – QLD current

  • Current Queensland Driver’s Licence
