Your Day to Day
As a Steward, you will play a vital behind-the-scenes role, supporting the culinary and service teams to ensure flawless operations and exceptional guest experiences.
Responsibilities include:
- Cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing plateware, silverware, glassware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils with precision
- Maintaining kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in a clean and orderly manner in line with health and sanitation standards
- Inspecting equipment and reporting malfunctions or hazardous conditions
- Properly using, handling, and storing cleaning chemicals while following hotel and safety guidelines
- Disposing of waste and adhering to recycling regulations
- Monitoring chemical levels and water temperatures during your shift to ensure optimal performance and sanitation
- Sweeping, mopping, and deep cleaning kitchen floors and surfaces regularly and after spills
- Supporting the culinary team with ad-hoc duties to maintain smooth kitchen operations
- Performing all tasks safely, while upholding IHG’s health, safety, and hygiene standards
What We Need From You
This job requires ability to perform the following:
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Basic communication skills in English
- Safe food handling certification and sanitation practices.
- Understanding of chemical handling and storage procedures, including correct usage of protective equipment (PPE)
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment by following hotel and regulatory health & safety procedures
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds, stand and move for extended periods, bend, stoop, kneel, and handle cleaning tools and chemicals safely
- Team player attitude and flexibility to work evenings/overnights, weekends, and holidays as required
