JOB OVERVIEW: 

Develop business through direct sales solicitation; secure new accounts, maintain existing accounts and execute tactical sales plans strategy to maximize the profitability of the hotel while maintaining guest satisfaction.  Oversee client functions to ensure customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Respond to client calls and special requests and obtain final details, dates, times, and hotel room and meeting room requirements.  Regularly follow-up with clients and maintain accurate and updated information. 
  • Copying and delivery of deposit checks to the Accounting Department
  • Mailing of departmental correspondence
  • Checking of assigned managers mailbox
  • Accurate message taking and relaying information
  • Provides daily administrative support with a strong emphasis on typing internal BEO’s, proposals, compiling and distributing reports
  • Ensures daily BEO’s are distributed promptly and accurately to appropriate Departments
  • Handles all aspects of special requests for function events processed through the Catering Department
  • Handle all telephone, and email contacts in a professional and timely manner on behalf and in concert with the catering associates
  • Maintain client files and update information daily in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. 
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.  es, etc. – to ensure repeat business, follow up on events, and generate new business 
  • Self-motivator who can manage the responsibilities of the department without daily supervision
  • Represent the hotel with a positive attitude and professional attire
  • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to IHG and InterContinental Boston sustainability programs
  • Carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description and which are commensurate with the role
  • Responsible for practicing, managing, and promoting the company’s values so that it becomes and intricate part of the everyday operation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Some College plus 1-2 years sales or catering related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Knowledge of hotel and food & beverage operations preferred.  Must speak fluent English.  Other languages preferred.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Frequently standing up or moving within and outside of the facility
  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Handling objects
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling

 

OTHER:   

  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others; demonstrated ability to interact with guests, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing paperwork and management reports, interpreting results, giving and receiving instructions,  and training
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized frequently.
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are used often. 
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
