Responsible for implementing proactive safety, security and fire risk management programs designed to limit guest, colleague, and property risk exposures.
Act as Risk Management point of contact for Corporate IHG Army Hotels, to include the carrying out of risk audits, providing consulting service and conducting training for hotel staff and management designed to improve awareness and prevent loss. Assist properties in evaluating and prioritizing risks to help hotels improve proactive management of risk exposures and improve loss experience.
As part of the Corporate IHG Army Hotels team achieve operational acceptance and compliance with all Fire and Life Safety standards and ways of working.
Your day to day
- Manage the Risk Management / IHG Army Hotel owner interface, maintain working Risk and Environmental relationship, and represent IHG Risk Management at IHG Army/Owner Safety and Health meetings.
- Manage the Measurement System to include BSS self-assessments, Risk Review and Quality visits, to validate safety compliance with the Hotel Life Cycle process
- Produce monthly Key Performance and Risk Indicator summary results to Director of Risk Management.
- Support, educate and train IHG Army Operational Teams on risk identification, assessing liability, and hazard analysis through on-site workplace inspections and risk reviews that evaluate claims reporting statistics and trend analysis.
- Collect, organize, and review all IHG Army Hotels OSHA Injury and Illness Records, assist and support with OSHA non-scheduled local and regulatory visits, citation handling, and handling complaint correspondence and action planning, to ensure accuracy and timely presentation of facts.
- Assist and train IHG Army Hotels with claims reporting and accident investigation techniques that emphasize on hazard and root cause analysis. Develop a life safety due diligence review process for new hotel openings, conversions, and building renovation projects within the IHG Army Region.
- Review, evaluate, and support IHG Army Hotels in completing Risk and Quality Evaluation Management Action Plans to address specific exposures, risks, and safety issues, for appropriateness across all ownership models.
- Design and implement a process to validate the accuracy of the work performed by the Quality and Design and Construction functions checking Brand Safety Standard compliance across the IHG Army managed estate, through statistical sampling, analytical procedures and auditor shadowing.
- Assist and direct IHG Army Hotel operational teams in formulating crisis preparedness, regulatory health and safety programs, environmental, and business recovery plans.
- Provide safety and security incident support to company managed hotels within IHG Army by providing guidance to enable hotels to respond effectively and legally to incidents; Respond and provide support to IHG Army managed hotels as a Crisis Coordinator relating to serious fire life and safety, security, and crisis incidents
- Conduct risk-based approach on-site visits as directed by the Director of Risk Management, that will generate management action plans that will help hotels comply with corporate, local, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify and assess current and future safety risks and changes to legislation and technical change that might impact these risk areas. Assist hotels in creating solutions to meet these changes /challenges.
- Foster a safety culture by working with IHG Army Hotels on implementing a structured and uniformed safety committee program
- Work with and assist Global Risk team members to build global capabilities that maintain and develop appropriate sections of the Risk Management website to ensure it is comprehensive and remains current.
- Review and evaluate Brand Safety Standards of CMH’s as part of an audit cycle in conjunction with other team members who have different areas of risk specialist knowledge.
- Support Risk and Army team leads with various reports (Serious Incidents, Crisis Management Reporting (Safety), Face-to-Face Training, IHG Army Hotels OSHA Record keeping.
- Assists in implementing and facilitating on-site training programs on health and safety (e.g. hazards, disaster preparedness, OSHA’s Hazardous Communication Standard (Right to Know), Bloodborne Pathogens, etc., for the purposes of reducing the incidence of accidents and meeting state and federal guidelines
- Develops, maintains, and monitors the implementation of all federal, state and local compliance programs. Examples include Injury and Illness Prevention Program, Hazard Communication Program, Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Program, Water Quality, Waste Management.
- Recommends changes, reviews, and updates emergency/crisis response plans to ensure they are up-to date, and correspond with IHG, state, and federal requirements.
What we need from you
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Civil, Electrical engineering, or Business or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- Minimum 5 years risk management/loss prevention experience, hotel Life Safety & Security experience desirable. Must be a subject matter expert in at least one of the following areas: Fire protection/prevention, security, or Health & Safety.

- Experience in data privacy protection, regulations, and best practices.
- Knowledge and ability to inspect Fire Detection and Suppression Systems.
- Knowledge of hospitality safety & security equipment and practices.
- Knowledge of Safety & Security Standards and Regulations.
- Knowledge of Incident Reporting and Claims Management.
- Proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office, Windows, Internet, e-mail, etc.
Travel – 30 – 40%
Location – Atlanta, GA Preferred; Our hybrid work structure is an expectation of three (3) days a week in office. This expectation may be adjusted to evolve with the changing needs of the business; Willing to consider Remote and **Candidate must reside in the United States**
The salary range for this role is $58,834.00 to $115,000.00. This role is also eligible for bonus pay (as applicable). We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401K, and other benefits to employees.
