What is the job?
We’re looking for a Full-Time Reservations Manager to join our team at Crowne Plaza Hobart. In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with the Director of Commercial, Director of Sales & Marketing, Front Office Manager and IHG Revenue Manager (Offsite) to drive revenue in line with our Sales & Marketing Plan while ensuring guest satisfaction remains at the heart of everything we do.
As Reservations Manager, you’ll oversee the entire reservations function for the hotel, ensuring accurate bookings, inventory balance, and rate parity across all channels. You’ll play a key role in aligning commercial strategy with day-to-day operations, managing revenue systems, and developing the capability of both the Reservations and Front Office teams.
Your day to day
People
- Lead and develop the Reservations team, ensuring strong system skills, service standards and product knowledge.
- Support and guide the Voice team through consistent training and coaching.
- Build team engagement through regular feedback and development discussions.
- Foster strong collaboration across departments, including Front Office, Sales & Marketing and Food & Beverage.
- Monitor group reservations and keep the Sales Team informed of status and updates.
- Communicate occupancy trends with department leaders to support efficient operations.
- Maintain positive relationships with guests, travel partners and industry contacts.
Finance
- Drive revenue through effective up-selling and suggestive selling techniques.
- Stay across current rates, promotions and forecasting insights to support pricing and occupancy strategies.
- Contribute to revenue optimisation by fully utilising hotel systems, processes and company tools.
- Participate in key revenue meetings, including RevGen, Yield and pricing discussions.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to support informed pricing and market-mix decisions.
- Ensure phone and IT equipment are functioning effectively and coordinate any required maintenance.
- Manage team rosters and maintain payroll costs in line with departmental budgets.
- Support workforce planning by contributing to staffing operational discussions.
Guest Experience
- Manage individual and group reservations with accuracy, professionalism and strong attention to detail.
- Handle bookings from Sales, reservation centres and travel partners, ensuring correct commissions and prompt processing.
- Monitor room blocks and cut-off dates through Passkey to support seamless group operations.
- Deliver timely, friendly responses to guest enquiries and feedback, including effective service recovery when needed.
- Maintain accurate guest profiles and collaborate with Front Office to support loyalty recognition and high-quality guest data.
Responsible Business
- Maintain accurate room availability records and support forecasting by contributing to occupancy and rate reporting.
- Ensure compliance with IHG policies, credit procedures, data privacy requirements and WH&S standards.
- Keep historical reservation data up to date to support future planning and commercial strategy.
- Assist other departments during busy periods, including supporting Front Office with guest enquiries, phone, and operational tasks as needed.
What we need from you
- Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management / Business Administration or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Reservations or Front Office, including leadership exposure.
- Strong knowledge of hotel systems such as Opera, HotelKey and an understanding of revenue management principles.
- Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills, with a professional phone and email etiquette.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to plan, set goals, and deliver projects on time.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and hotel operating systems.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Based in Hobart.
