What’s the job?
The primary goal of this position, Recreation Manager is to design, implement, and lead recreational and leisure activities. Responsible for recreational activities and ensures success of recreation programs. Create and manage schedules for activities and facilities. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the guest is the priority.
Your-day-to-day
People
- Lead the team by example by promoting and maintaining a safe and positive workplace.
- Clearly communicate goals and objectives.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
- Manage daily staff assignments, communicate goals, and ensure compliance of policies and procedures. Manage employee attendance, schedule, compliance and measure efficiencies.
- Engage team and create a high-performance culture. Responsible for the care, resolution and escalation of employee issues for assigned teams.
- Ensure the staff are in full uniform when in duty.
Financial
- Assess recreation programs based on markets and trends and plan activities accordingly taking into account; costs, participant numbers and equipment/facility use and sustainability.
- Promote and advertise programs in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Responsible for supporting and maintaining recreation budget including controlling expenses and ensuring efficiency of the team.
- Develop and/or support incentive programs that involve recreation programs to maximize revenue opportunities.
Guest Experience
- Review market and industry trends and design new, unique and innovative recreational activities.
- Enhance guest experience by responding timely and accurately to guest requests and/or emergencies.
- Ensure that team are properly trained and certified for lifeguard duties and CPR response.
- Ensure that activities are performed in a safe environment using proper safety techniques.
Responsible Business
- Oversee all recreation programs including beachfront, poolside, and fitness center.
- Oversee the Kids club and Marine center
- Lead the implementation of health and safety practices in all recreation areas.
- Accountable for tracking recreation statistics.
- Support team members in their learning and career development.
- Follow documented policies and procedures and ensure compliance by subordinates.
- Regularly generate written and oral reports to management.
- Proactively seek ways to improve existing processes.
- Be prepared to assume other duties as requested by management.
What we need from yo
- Education - High School Graduate
- Language - Fluent in English (speaking, listening, reading and writing)
- Computer Skill - Strong computer skills.
- Service years
- Five (5) years of experience in recreational activities in a full-service resort including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or management role.
- Knowledge and skills
- Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests and employees.
- Problem solving, reasoning, analytical, motivating, and training abilities are often used when estimating food productions, coordinating functions, and performing general management duties.
- Ability to remain calm and react quickly.
- Basic math skills, reading, and writing are used when completing paperwork, budgets, and other reports.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships internally and externally.
- Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Frequently standing up and walking around the facilities
- Bending, stooping, kneeling
- Safe handling of sensitive and confidential guest information.
- Lifeguard, first aid, and CPR skills required for emergency responses.
