The individual in this role is responsible for overseeing one or more components of the education and compliance related to health, safety, and fire protection programs. These programs are designed to safeguard the brand's reputation, as well as protect guests, colleagues, and assets from various risks. The role involves conducting safety and security reviews for hotels and IHG offices, providing consulting services, and delivering training to hotel management and staff to enhance awareness and prevent losses. As a member of the Safety & Security team, this position may also contribute to the continuous improvement and development of standards, materials, and management systems to ensure comprehensive support and optimal global consistency.
Your day to day
- Review, evaluate, and survey hotels to identify colleague safety, life safety, and fire protection risks, and develop plans for hotels to effectively manage these risks.
- Collaborate and integrate effectively with a multi-functional global team, including Global Resilience, Risk Finance, Risk Training, Legal, Corporate Responsibility, and Global Internal Audit.
- Implement safety and fire protection programs for IHG hotels and offices.
- Cultivate and maintain positive, consultative relationships with IHG partners, including Development, Operations, Design & Construction, Quality, and HOST.
- Develop and deliver compelling fire protection and safety presentations for IHG decision-makers, customers, hotel owners, management, and colleagues.
- Share safety and security knowledge and expertise with IHG colleagues.
- Apply IHG Brand Safety Standards, whether prescriptive or intent-based, globally while considering local building codes and construction types.
- Maintain and enhance relevant sections of the Safety & Security website to ensure it is comprehensive and up-to-date.
- Provide support to hotel operations as needed to mitigate the effects of serious incidents, crises, and/or violations.
- Analyze incident data for reporting, tracking, and trend identification purposes.
- Review safety and security incident findings, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to verify the validity of those findings, assist with incident investigations, and establish mutually acceptable, time-bound remediation plans.
What we need from you
- A minimum of five years of progressive, relevant work experience, demonstrating proficiency in multiple disciplines and processes related to the position.
- Practical experience and technical knowledge relevant to fire safety, health and safety, and physical security as applicable to the hospitality and resort sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of hospitality fire protection controls to safeguard people, property, and IHG’s esteemed reputation.
- Ability to apply logical and scientific reasoning to a wide range of intellectual and practical challenges.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt both verbal and written communication to suit the needs and comprehension levels of various audiences.
- Highly proficient in program management with a keen attention to detail.
- Capable of analyzing challenges, defining desired outcomes, and designing and implementing effective solutions.
- Experience working with large-scale processes and programs across a matrix organization and/or multiple geographic locations.
- Specific technical expertise in one or more relevant sub-topics within safety and security (e.g., legionella, fire safety).
- Proficient in computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite, Windows, internet applications, and email.
Location - Our hybrid work structure is an expectation of three (3) days a week in the ATLANTA office. This expectation may be adjusted to evolve with the changing needs of the business.
Travel - 10% required
The salary range for this role is $58,834 to $115,000. This role is also eligible for bonus pay. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401K and other benefits to employees.
