We are seeking a highly motivated Legal Intern to join our dynamic legal team, supporting the Regional General Counsel and a team of experienced lawyers based in Singapore and Sydney. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a regional legal environment, providing support to the Southeast Asia & Korea (SEAK) and Japan & Australasia (JAPAC) business units. The successful candidate will assist with a variety of legal tasks, including research, contract reviews, and administrative duties, while gaining valuable exposure to international business operations and cross-border legal issues. This role is ideal for a law student with a keen interest in corporate and commercial law, looking to develop practical skills and contribute to a collaborative and fast-paced team.
Role Purpose:
To support the regional General Counsel and a team of lawyers based in Singapore and Sydney, who all support the Southeast Asia & Korea (SEAK) and Japan & Australasia (JAPAC) business units.
Key Accountabilities
- Supporting the Legal Team
- Support IHG’s team of lawyers and paralegals across matters of a typical in-house legal function, including drafting, reviewing contracts, correspondences and tracking matters
- Support legal and matter administration including using systems, MS Teams sites and other technology tools used by the global legal, compliance and risk management teams
- Undertake legal research, drafting legal memos, legal updates, creating training materials and support knowledge management for the legal function
- Assist on company secretarial matters, including drafting minutes, board resolutions and other papers
- Assist the General Counsel and team to prepare any training slides, presentations and execution of any productions needs required during any legal meetings, events and industry conferences, from sourcing venues and suppliers to producing and ordering collaterals, printing materials
- Coordinate any law firm and other legal service provider engagement, procurement and invoicing processes including supplier creations, purchase orders and processing invoices
Key Skills & Experiences
Education: Law undergraduate in university in Singapore, United Kingdom or the Commonwealth, or undertaking legal studies or law diploma in a local polytechnic or any external law degree qualification
Experience: Any working experience will be preferable but not necessary

- Ability to work on projects independently
- Confidence in generating new ideas or ways to approach work assigned
- Good project management skills, detail oriented and communicates progress

- Good proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word applications, and generally tech savvy
