Job Summary:
The Lead Massage Therapist plays a vital role in delivering exceptional, personalized massage and body treatments, reflecting the highest standards of luxury spa service and brand excellence. This role requires mastery of all massage modalities offered on the spa menu, performed with expert technique, elegant draping, and unwavering professionalism.
As a leader and mentor, the Lead Massage Therapist supports the overall operation of the massage department—guiding therapists through training, scheduling, and service execution. They oversee product inventory, uphold treatment protocols, ensure quality control, and promote consistency in five-star service delivery.
With a deep understanding of guest care, the Lead Massage Therapist communicates attentively with each guest to assess needs and deliver tailored experiences, all while fostering a refined, welcoming, and results-driven spa environment.
A little bit about your day:
Reporting to the Spa Director, every day is different, you will:
- Promote Regent’s service philosophy and style through our people attributes.
- Embody Guerlain and third-party consultant’s philosophy, while upholding all spa policies, procedures, and Forbes 5-Star service standards.
- Act as the primary liaison for the Massage Therapists, ensuring clear communication and consistent adherence to service and brand standards.
- Uphold strict confidentiality at all times, protecting the privacy of both colleagues and guests.
- Deliver refined, results-driven massage and body treatments with professionalism, sensitivity, and personalized guest care.
- Conduct consultations and recommend enhancements and retail products tailored to guest needs.
- Foster guest relationships to support satisfaction, loyalty, and retention.
- Maintain a pristine, well-stocked treatment areas; ensure team adherence to all safety, sanitation, and hygiene protocols in accordance with third party consultant and state guidelines.
- Guide and support Massage Therapists through training, performance monitoring, and service quality coaching.
- Coordinate vendor-led education and ensure team knowledge of protocols and product offerings.
- Manage treatment room inspections, equipment upkeep, and product inventory.
- Collaborate with Spa Leadership on scheduling, licensing compliance, evaluations, hiring, onboarding, and departmental briefings.
- Assist with guest tours, service recovery, and communication of maintenance issues.
- Participate in all required training and departmental meetings.
- Limited travel will be required.
What We need from you:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Massage Therapist position, preferably in a luxury hotel/resort.
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent, or any other combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and capabilities.
- Must have a current CA Massage Therapy License.
- Previous Supervisory experience, preferred.
Knowledge of Massage Theory, Anatomy and Physiology.
- Must be polished, professional, and have a strong command of both written and verbal English.
- Must be organized, proactive, and possess a strong attention to detail.
- Basic computer software skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Previous experience with Booker, Book4Time, Spa Soft preferred.
- Ability to carry, lift, push, pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, stoop, and bend repetitively and for extended periods of time.
- Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What you can expect from us:
The hourly pay range for this role is $42.67 to $77.10 with booked treatments. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed at Regent Santa Monica Beach. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. A colleague’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
