Kitchen & Laundry Technician at InterContinental Residences Dubai Business Bay

InterContinental Residences Dubai Business Bay is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Kitchen & Laundry Technician to support the Engineering team in maintaining the highest standards of operational efficiency, safety, and luxury service delivery.

This role is critical in ensuring the reliable operation, preventive maintenance, and timely repair of all kitchen and laundry equipment, supporting seamless culinary and housekeeping operations while meeting IHG brand standards, Forbes luxury expectations, and local authority compliance.

Located in the heart of Dubai’s Business Bay, the property features 176 luxury serviced residences. The Kitchen & Laundry Technician plays a key role in protecting asset integrity, minimizing downtime, and ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for guests and colleagues.

Your Day-to-Day

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

Kitchen Equipment Maintenance

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of kitchen equipment including ovens, ranges, grills, fryers, steamers, dishwashers, and refrigeration support systems

• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and gas-related faults in kitchen equipment

• Ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with manufacturer specifications

• Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimize operational disruption

Laundry Equipment Maintenance

• Maintain, service, and repair commercial laundry equipment including washers, dryers, extractors, presses, and ironing machines

• Monitor machine performance and conduct adjustments to optimize efficiency and lifespan

• Ensure proper calibration and safe operation of laundry machinery

Preventive Maintenance & Asset Care

• Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules in line with IHG engineering standards

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and equipment histories

• Recommend repairs, replacements, and upgrades to improve reliability and efficiency

Safety, Compliance & Hygiene

• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, fire, and hygiene regulations

• Comply with local authority requirements, including Dubai Municipality and Civil Defense standards

• Follow lockout/tagout procedures and safe working practices at all times

• Support HACCP compliance in kitchen operations

Guest & Operational Support

• Work closely with Culinary, Stewarding, and Housekeeping teams to support smooth daily operations

• Carry out repairs with minimal disruption, maintaining professionalism and cleanliness in guest and operational areas

• Communicate equipment status, downtime, and repair timelines clearly to department heads

Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

• Support other Engineering trades as required during peak periods or emergencies

• Assist with inspections, audits, and technical evaluations

• Participate in training, toolbox talks, and skills development programs

What We Need from You

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience as a Kitchen & Laundry Technician or Hotel Engineering Technician, preferably in a luxury hotel or serviced residence

• Strong technical knowledge of commercial kitchen and laundry equipment

• Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and gas systems

• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and fault diagnosis

Technical Skills

• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams

• Skilled in troubleshooting and hands-on repairs

• Basic understanding of BMS, safety interlocks, and control panels is an advantage

Education & Certification

• Technical diploma or ITI certificate in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, or Hotel Engineering (preferred)

• Trade certification in kitchen or laundry equipment maintenance is an advantage
