The Junior Sous Chef manages daily kitchen operations at Le Petit Belge in Crowne Plaza Muscat OCEC. This role ensures high-quality food preparation, consistency in Belgian-inspired cuisine, and adherence to hygiene and safety standards. The Junior Sous Chef plays a key role in supervising kitchen staff, maintaining efficiency, and contributing to menu execution.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef in daily kitchen operations and service flow
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff during shifts
- Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to restaurant standards
- Maintain consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation
- Support in training and mentoring junior kitchen team members
- Monitor food stock levels and assist with inventory management and ordering
- Ensure proper storage and handling of all food items in compliance with food safety standards
- Enforce hygiene, sanitation, and safety regulations in the kitchen
- Handle the menu development, specials, seasonal offerings and food costing
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
- Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or related field
- 2–4 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably luxury hotel bar/pub
- Knowledge of Belgian or European cuisine is an advantage
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong understanding of food safety standards (HACCP preferred)
