Nestled in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, InterContinental Brisbane has opened to guests this winter, offering 321 spacious hotel rooms and suites, all day dining restaurant and lobby bar, outdoor pool, fitness centre and Club Lounge, all in a prime location above Queen Street Mall, perfect for exploring the city’s top attractions. We are looking for a full time Human Resources Officer to join our HR team!
Your day to day
- Assist the Director of HR in all disciplinary and investigation procedure and ensure hotel policy and legal compliance with local labour laws and IHG HR Policies.
- Assist in delivering colleague engagement initiatives, social events, and recognition programs.
- Support rostering, award interpretation, and compliance with Australian employment legislation
- Support WHS processes and ensure safe work practices are upheld
- Coordinate training activities, including mandatory learning and development programs.
- Support performance management cycles and assist leaders with HR-related queries.
- Conduct engaging orientation and onboarding sessions to help new colleagues feel valued, supported and connected from day one.
- Collaborate with leaders, facilitate contract development and drive compliance with onboarding procedures.
- Serve as a friendly, reliable point of contact for workplace concerns, colleague welfare and HR & Payroll related questions from hotel colleagues.
- Maintain HRIS and employee records, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Championing a collaborative culture by facilitating open communication, recognition initiatives and opportunities for cross-functional teamwork.
- Maintain Heart of House and colleague-facing areas, keeping communication boards and shared spaces up to date with current collateral, announcements and engagement materials.
What we need from you
- Previous HR Advisor or equivalent experience within Hotel Industry or within Tourism and Hospitality is desired.
- You must be a people person, enjoy interacting with all levels of the business and comfortable juggling multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work autonomously, be proactive and take accountability for workload.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks whilst demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
- Strong communications skills that can guide, confidentially influence and build professional rapport with department managers, leaders and colleagues.
- Tech savvy with IT literacy in Microsoft Office suite, HR systems (preferred) and able to learn new systems easily
