The Role
The Head of Finance and Business Support Operations drives operational performance for the Americas region of owned, managed, and/or franchised hotels in line with the regional targets. This team identifies opportunities and make recommendations to improve the results of the assigned portfolio from a revenue and/or cost perspective. This role is responsible for short and long-term operating/financial analysis of all hotels in assigned region and provides financial support to the SVP or VP of Operations. This role may direct and deliver best practices to produce superior financial returns for both the owners of managed and/or franchised hotels and IHG. The role may have key third party relationships with the managed and franchise owners, the asset management function of our multi-unit managed owners and will participate in the investment recommendations with these owners in the assigned region. The role may be jointly responsible for leading the collection of debt and other contractual matters and have key input to any decision to terminate hotels on the grounds of non-payment. The role may be co-responsible for signing off on any financial projections for new managed and/or franchise opportunities within the assigned region.
Your Day-to-Day
Strategic Partnership & Business Planning
- Partner with SVP/VP of Operations and leadership teams to drive profit and growth.
- Support long-term regional business planning and adoption of best practices.
- Collaborate with VP/Director of HPS to meet regional metrics (Winning Metrics, KPOs, KPIs).
Financial Analysis & Performance Monitoring
- Deliver regular financial updates and operational reviews.
- Benchmark internal/external metrics to identify opportunities and risks.
- Design and implement operational metrics to optimize performance.
Forecasting & Budgeting
- Ensure hotel forecasts and budgets are realistic and performance-driven.
- Monitor hotel performance and develop action plans with Operations leadership.
Governance & Compliance
- Drive compliance with IHG policies, internal audit recommendations, and CSA action plans.
- Ensure adherence to statutory regulations, IFRS, GAAP, SOX, SAS70, etc., for both centralized and decentralized hotels.
Franchise & Hotel Support
- Engage with franchise owners in financial default to resolve issues.
- Explore best practices in franchise reporting and performance monitoring.
Financial Control & Reporting
- May oversee hotel controllers and standardize financial policies.
- Responsible for financial statement accuracy and control environments.
Development & Talent Management
- Lead team functions, staffing, and budgeting.
- Drive succession planning, coaching, and talent development.
Special Projects & Advisory
- Support financial negotiations with ownership groups.
- Contribute to projections for new managed properties and development transitions.
- Resolve escalated operational and process issues.
What we need from you
- Education: Bachelor’s or master’s in finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years in progressive finance roles, ideally with hotel operations exposure.
- Hotel & Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of hotel operations and related legal agreements.
- Financial Expertise: Strong grasp of accounting principles, audit/control processes, and investment analysis (NPV, IRR, DCF).
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Hyperion Essbase, Excel, and PowerPoint for financial reporting and analysis.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and build partnerships across global organizations.
- Communication & Influence: Capable of presenting complex financial insights to senior leaders and driving strategic decisions.
Location: Atlanta, GA. Our hybrid work structure is an expectation of three (3) days a week in office. This expectation may be adjusted to evolve with the changing needs of the business.
Travel: 10%
The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $275,000. This role is also eligible for bonus pay (as applicable). We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401K, and other benefits to employees.
