The InterContinental New York Barclay is seeking a motivated and proactive Group Sales Manager to join their team. The Group Sales Manager will serve as the hotel representative to existing and prospective clients who are seeking sleeping rooms, meeting space, and food and beverage service specific to his/her market segment(s).

 

Job Responsibilities

The Group Sales Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Maintaining ownership of our Social Accounts, Pharma/Healthcare and Small Groups. 

  • Actively prospecting and qualifying new accounts 

  • Attending and participating in all sales-related meetings 

  • Conducting site inspections and off-site presentations for clientele

  • Delegating all service-related tasks and programs to other departments accordingly

  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers

  • Developing sales plans and strategies to meet or exceed established revenue and room night goals

  • Monitoring and handling sales inquiry calls

  • Producing and reviewing sales contracts and client proposals

  • Creating client experiences that uphold luxury standards

  • Representing the hotel at local industry events and sales calls 

  • Create strong interoffice relationships to ensure the clients’ expectations are exceeded

 

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to showcase teamworking skills and creativity
  • Positive attitude and energy level
  • Computer Skills – Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Google Mail, Delphi, Opera
  • Exceptional negotiation and selling skills
  • Prior experience in luxury hotel(s) a plus
  • Minimum of 1-2 years Sales and/or Marketing related experience, or equivalent combination of education, experience and a related degree is preferred. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of market segmentation, yield, and inventory management
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and excellent follow-up

The salary range for this role is $70,000 – $80,000 plus a 20% bonus and MGR benefits. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City, NY. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
