InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef offers a rare opportunity to lead one of the world’s most iconic private island resorts, set among the breathtaking natural beauty of the Whitsundays. Our exclusive resort is home to 182 guest rooms, suites, and villas across four distinct wings – Pool, Lagoon, Beach, and Pavilion – each designed to immerse guests in unforgettable island experiences. In addition, four prestigious Hayman Residences crown the island’s hilltop, offering ultra-luxury living with panoramic views.
We are seeking an experienced Luxury General Manager to lead the resort’s continued success. You will bring a deep understanding of remote, high-end resort operations, and a natural ability to inspire and lead in a unique and highly rewarding setting.
A little taste of your day-to-day:
- Leading all aspects of operational activities of the hotel
- Oversee the smooth management of the employee accommodation/village
- Continuously drive creative ideas to enhance local and international business to the Resort
- Recruiting, leading, managing and motivating a strong team, upskilling, measuring and managing performance
- Prioritising relationships with guests and external contacts such as current and potential clients, government officials, travel industry representatives, suppliers and local communities
- Creating unique guest and employee engagement programmes
What we’re looking for in you:
We are seeking an exceptional and experienced Luxury Resort General Manager to lead our remote property with vision, drive, and dedication to excellence. To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- A proven track record of success - as a General Manager in a remote, luxury resort setting
- Strong commercial acumen - with a focus on top-line revenue growth and profitability
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships - with owners and key stakeholders
- Familiarity with Australian labour laws - and compliance requirements
- The right to live and work in Australia – this is essential for the role
