Join InterContinental Halong Bay as we open a landmark luxury destination

We are seeking an exceptional General Manager to lead the InterContinental Halong Bay Resort & Residences, a flagship new-build luxury resort and residences development located in Halong City, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam - a UNESCO World Heritage destination and one of Vietnam’s most visited tourism locations.

This integrated resort represents Halong Bay’s first true on-land luxury resort, featuring a private beach, extensive leisure and MICE facilities, and branded residences. The project is developed by BIM Group, a highly regarded local Luxury developer with a strong track record and long-term vision for Ha long Bay and multiple properties active and in pipeline with IHG.

This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned luxury leader to take full ownership of a high-profile pre-opening, shape market positioning, foster the culture, and establish InterContinental Halong Bay as a benchmark resort for Northern Vietnam.

 

Your Day-to-Day

As General Manager, you will take full responsibility for the overall success of the resort and residences, delivering exceptional guest experiences, strong commercial performance, and trusted owner relationships.

While no two days will be the same, you will:

  • Lead the pre-opening and opening journey, including recruitment, brand immersion, operational readiness, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Establish clear performance, development and succession plans for the executive team and department heads, providing coaching, mentoring and ongoing feedback.
  • Ensure full compliance with IHG brand standards, service excellence frameworks, and regulatory requirements, while tailoring the guest experience to local and international markets.
  • Build strong, visible relationships with owners, unit owners, government authorities, business partners, travel industry stakeholders, and the local community.
  • Drive commercial strategy, including positioning, pricing, digital marketing, revenue management and MICE performance, in a competitive and fast-developing destination.
  • Lead capital planning and asset management initiatives to protect long-term asset value and enhance market leadership.
  • Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting and P&L management, to maximize profitability and return on investment.
  • Foster a safe, secure and inclusive environment for guests, colleagues and assets, ensuring compliance with all health, safety and regulatory standards.
  • Inspire a high-engagement culture through change management, leadership development and performance-driven initiatives.

 

What We’re Looking For in You

  • Proven General Manager experience, ideally within Luxury or Upper-Luxury resort environments.
  • Demonstrated pre-opening experience, particularly in complex resort and/or residences operations.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience driving revenue, profitability and brand positioning.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, including experience working closely with owners and developers.
  • Ability to build, lead and retain a high-performing executive team, with a strong focus on people development.
  • Solid understanding of resort operations, F&B, MICE, asset management and branded residences (advantage).
  • Experience working in Asia is strongly preferred, with the cultural intelligence to operate effectively in Vietnam.
  • Strong English communication skills required; Vietnamese language capability is desirable but not mandatory.
  • A hands-on, visible leadership style aligned with the InterContinental brand values.
