Hotel Brand: Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts
Location: Vietnam, An Giang Province

Hotel: Phu Quoc Starbay (PQCDB), Bai Dai Area, Phu Quoc Special Zone

Job number: 151462

Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay is a newly developed resort located on the scenic Dai Beach of Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam. With 284 rooms, multiple dining venues, wellness facilities, and extensive meeting spaces, the property is designed to cater to both leisure and MICE segments. Strategically positioned within a mixed-use development, the resort benefits from Phu Quoc’s growing tourism infrastructure, including an international airport and visa-free entry. Operationally, the hotel is structured with a full leadership team and requires a seasoned GM with pre-opening and resort experience to lead its launch.

The ideal GM is expected to have strong experience in Asia, preferably in resort environments, with commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills. English fluency is required, while Vietnamese is desirable. The role includes a competitive expat package with housing, schooling support (noting the lack of island schools), and a pre-opening allowance. Initially based in Ho Chi Minh City, the GM will transition to Phu Quoc, navigating challenges such as limited infrastructure and talent availability. Building a resilient, engaged team and fostering a collaborative work culture will be essential.

The guest profile includes domestic travelers, SEA MICE groups, and international visitors from Korea and Japan, with future potential from Russia. Cultural sensitivity is key, especially in understanding Vietnamese norms and regional market expectations. The commercial strategy focuses on leveraging the resort’s beachfront location, brand alignment with IHG, and modern amenities to drive revenue through MICE, F&B, and leisure segments. Success will depend on the GM’s ability to align operations with brand standards, adapt to the local environment, and lead a high-performing team in a remote, fast-developing destination.
