Fire Safety Engineer – Help us protect what matters most. Build your next chapter with IHG.
Imagine stepping into a role where your fire safety expertise doesn’t just meet compliance, it shapes how millions of guests experience safety and comfort around the world.
At IHG, we’re building a new Safety & Security team with a fresh approach, and we’re looking for a Fire Safety Manager (Engineering) ready to take the next step in their career. This newly created role puts you at the centre of a globally connected team that believes safety is fundamental to great hospitality.
Reporting to the Global Director for Brand Safety Standards, you’ll work in a supportive and collaborative team to advance our global fire strategy and deliver practical, risk‑based fire safety controls that protect our guests, colleagues, and properties.
If you enjoy solving real‑world problems, influencing how things are built and operated, and making a meaningful impact, this could be your next great move.
What this role looks like:
This is a diverse, hands‑on role. You’ll turn fire safety principles into clear, workable actions across our EMEAA region. One day you may be supporting a new hotel development in Europe; the next, you might be helping hotel operators in the Middle East strengthen their fire safety capabilities.
You’ll build the foundations — frameworks, training, and tools — that give hotel teams confidence and clarity. You’ll bring people together, simplify complex engineering issues, and offer practical support to ensure risks are clearly understood and effectively managed.
Most importantly, you’ll help embed fire safety early, consistently, and thoughtfully across the IHG portfolio.
Where you’ll make an impact
- Work with regional counterparts in the Americas and Greater China to advance our approach to fire safety.
- Support the EMEAA Regional S&S Directors in shaping frameworks, training, and ways of working.
- Partner with teams across the business — from architects and developers to hotel operators — helping them make clear, confident fire safety decisions.
- Create tools and training that make fire safety accessible and practical for hotel teams.
- Strengthen assurance and compliance, giving us a clear view of performance and opportunities to improve.
- Support incident response, helping us learn, adapt, and continually raise our standards.
- Contribute to key business decisions, from due diligence on new properties to assessing emerging risks.
What you’ll bring
- A degree in Fire Safety, Fire Engineering, or a related subject, giving you the technical foundation you need.
- Experience designing or delivering fire safety programmes or systems.
- A solid understanding of risk, compliance, and assurance — and why they matter.
- Clear, confident communication skills, with the ability to turn technical detail into practical steps for non‑specialists.
- A pragmatic mindset: you enjoy finding solutions, not just identifying problems.
- Experience working across multiple regions or within property‑related sectors is a plus, but not essential.
Why this role matters
The safety and security of our guests and colleagues is our top priority. Your work will quietly protect thousands of people every day, empower hotel teams, and work to shape the future of fire safety across one of the world’s largest hospitality companies.
If you’re ready to grow your career and see your expertise make a real difference, we’d love you to join us.
