Job Summary

The Food & Beverage Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the hotel’s food and beverage outlets while delivering the exceptional service and personalized guest experiences synonymous with InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. This position leads by example, supervises colleagues during service, and ensures all operational, service, and brand standards are consistently met.

The Food & Beverage Supervisor works closely with the Restaurant Manager and Food & Beverage leadership team to maximize guest satisfaction, support revenue goals, control costs, and create a positive and engaging environment for colleagues.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Service

  • Deliver warm, personalized, and attentive service that reflects InterContinental’s luxury standards.
  • Supervise daily restaurant, bar, banquet, and/or in-room dining operations as assigned.
  • Ensure food and beverage service is timely, accurate, and presented according to established standards.
  • Anticipate guest needs and proactively address requests, concerns, and service recovery opportunities.
  • Resolve guest complaints professionally and follow up to ensure satisfaction.
  • Build strong relationships with guests and create memorable dining experiences.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and motivate Food & Beverage colleagues during assigned shifts.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily operational priorities, VIPs, events, promotions, and service expectations.
  • Delegate responsibilities and monitor colleague performance throughout the shift.
  • Coach and provide constructive feedback to colleagues to support their development.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new Food & Beverage colleagues.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure colleagues maintain proper grooming, uniform, and professional conduct standards.

Operations

  • Ensure outlets are properly set up, clean, organized, and ready for service.
  • Monitor staffing levels and assist with scheduling and labor planning as needed.
  • Coordinate service between the front and back of house to ensure smooth operations.
  • Monitor reservations, special requests, VIP arrivals, and special events.
  • Ensure proper opening, closing, and shift-change procedures are followed.
  • Maintain accurate shift logs and communicate important information to management.

Financial & Inventory Management

  • Follow established cash handling, credit card, check, and banking procedures.
  • Ensure accurate closing procedures and accountability for all transactions.
  • Assist with inventory counts, ordering, receiving, and proper storage of food, beverage, and operating supplies.
  • Monitor waste and help control food, beverage, and labor costs.
  • Support outlet revenue goals through suggestive selling and upselling.
  • Protect hotel assets, equipment, inventory, and financial resources.

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with IHG and InterContinental brand standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service requirements are followed.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report hazards, accidents, and maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Understand and follow emergency, fire, and security procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or food and beverage education preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Food & Beverage, restaurant, or hotel experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Luxury hotel or upscale restaurant experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food, beverage, and service standards.
  • Knowledge of cash handling, inventory control, and basic financial procedures.
  • Food safety and alcohol service certifications as required by state or local regulations.
  • Must be available to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout the hotel and food & beverage outlets.
