As a Facilities Specialist, you will be a key technical leader in our Engineering department. From managing vendor relations and optimizing maintenance plans to supporting capital projects and ensuring compliance, your efforts will protect the integrity of the building and enhance the overall guest experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Departmental Operations

  • Lead resolution of high-impact, technically complex repairs in guest rooms and public areas.
  • Serve as a technical expert for the work order system (e.g., HotSOS), including staff training and system optimization.
  • Coordinate cross-functional support with Housekeeping and Front Office for preventative maintenance with minimal guest disruption.
  • Oversee vendor proposals, contractor activity, and small-scale renovation projects.
  • Maintain and audit documentation for building systems, permits, safety certifications, and MSDS.

Strategic & Financial Support

  • Analyze work order and facilities data to identify operational efficiencies and cost-savings.
  • Manage procurement of specialized parts, tools, and systems.
  • Assist in long-range capital planning and budget forecasting for facility improvements.

Team Development & Communication

  • Mentor new engineering colleagues and provide technical guidance.
  • Lead troubleshooting on complex facility systems and equipment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to drive efficiency and reduce guest impact.
  • Manage the Monthly Safety Colleague Meeting process – prepare minutes, track deliverables, and distribute to key stakeholders to reinforce a safety-first culture.

Guest Experience

  • Prioritize VIP and emergency maintenance requests and ensure swift resolution.
  • Improve and audit preventative maintenance schedules to limit service disruptions.
  • Monitor and report on recurring issues for continuous quality improvement.

Safety & Sustainability

  • Act as the Security Department liaison for employee engagement initiatives, fostering morale and reinforce departmental values.
  • Manage all insurance reporting workflows, submit incidents via Riskonnect, liaise with IHG Insurance (for employees) and Broadspire (for guests), and ensure timely follow-up and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with local fire/life safety codes, OSHA, and hotel safety standards.
  • Conduct internal audits and support third-party inspections.
  • Champion energy-efficiency projects and sustainability initiatives.
  • Lead or support minor construction and systems upgrade projects.

Requirements 

  • High school diploma or vocational certification required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in engineering or facilities maintenance.
  • Advanced understanding of building systems, safety codes, and preventative maintenance best practices.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation, schematics, and maintenance management platforms (e.g., HotSOS).
  • Ability to work in elevated or confined spaces and lift/carry up to 100–300 pounds.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency call-ins.

The hourly rate range for this role is $27 - $30 USD. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City, NY. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
