Nestled in the heart of Adelaide’s vibrant CBD, the beloved Mayfair Hotel is entering an exciting new chapter—transforming into Kimpton Mayfair Adelaide in 2026.

We are on the lookout for an Executive Chef to deliver a soulful essence – born from its history, creators, locale, community, and people - to create a deeper connection with culture, you will lead the vision and performance of the hotel’s culinary offering, shaping distinctive, seasonally driven menus while delivering exceptional dining experiences across all outlets.

A little taste of your day-to-day 

In this pivotal role, you will define the culinary vision and oversee kitchen operations end-to-end — curating innovative, seasonally driven menus, leading and developing high-performing teams, and balancing creativity with commercial performance. From delivering a contemporary brasserie concept rooted in European colonial influences and South Australian provenance, to executing Kimpton’s signature breakfast experience, you will bring energy, individuality, and consistency to every plate — creating experiences that resonate with guests and locals alike. 

In addition you will be accountable for: 

  • Culinary Leadership & Menu Development – designing and executing innovative menus that align with the hotel’s culinary philosophy. This includes creating seasonal offerings, bespoke event menus, and catering options that reflect current food trends while meeting diverse guest preferences.  

  • Operational Excellence & Food Standards – oversee daily kitchen operations across multiple venues, ensuring the consistent delivery of exceptional taste, presentation, and quality. Enforcing strict food safety and hygiene practices, conducts regular inspections, and ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations.  

  • Team Management & Development – Recruiting and selecting the right talent, training, and mentoring colleagues, fostering a positive and high-performing work environment. Manage schedules, assignments, and performance evaluations, while encouraging teamwork across departments. 

  • Financial & Resource Management – Develop and manage the kitchen budget, monitors costs, and ensures efficient use of resources. Oversee inventory control and implement waste reduction practices.  

  • Guest Experience & Engagement – collaborate with the Food & Beverage team, to ensure a seamless and memorable dining journey for every guest. Actively engage with guests to gather feedback, respond to concerns, and adapt menus to enhance satisfaction. Strengthen the hotel’s reputation for culinary excellence and drive guest loyalty, repeat business, and increased revenue through exceptional dining experiences. 

What we need from you 

  • Proven experience leading high-performing kitchens in a luxury hotel, lifestyle brand, or destination restaurant  

  • A strong culinary identity, with the ability to create innovative, seasonal menus grounded in local provenance  

  • Inspiring leadership skills, with a passion for developing, engaging, and retaining exceptional culinary talent  

  • Sound commercial acumen, including experience managing food cost, labour, and overall kitchen performance  

  • A track record of delivering outstanding quality and guest experiences across multi-outlet operations  

  • Creativity, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset — with the drive to position our venues as vibrant, locally loved destinations 

  • Full working rights in Australia without restriction
