Duties and Responsibilities
As Dive Base Leader, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation of the Dive Centre to provide exceptional products and services within brand operating standards.
The duties and responsibilities will include:
• Oversee the daily operations of the dive Centre, ensuring smooth and safe delivery of all diving activities.
• Plan, organize, and schedule dive excursions, courses, and activities according to guest demand and environmental conditions.
• Supervise and motivate the dive team, ensuring consistent adherence to resort standards, PADI guidelines, and Maldivian regulations.
• Welcome and engage with guests, providing detailed dive briefings, marine life insights, and personalized recommendations to enhance their experience.
• Ensure high quality instruction and guiding services for beginners, certified divers, and snorkelers.
• Handle guest queries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction and repeat visits.
• Enforce strict adherence to international diving safety protocols and resort policies.
• Maintain up-to-date emergency action plans and conduct regular safety drills with the dive team.
• Oversee the maintenance, servicing, and inspection of diving equipment, compressors, and boats to ensure safety and reliability.
• Maintain accurate dive logs, liability forms, and certification records in line with PADI and legal requirements.
• Promote sustainable diving practices and educate guests about coral reef conservation and marine protection.
• Collaborate with the resort’s sustainability and marine biology teams on reef restoration, citizen science projects, and awareness initiatives.
• Monitor dive sites for environmental health and report on reef conditions to management.
• Lead by example, fostering a culture of professionalism, safety, and guest focused service.
• Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback to dive instructors, divemasters, and support host.
• Manage host scheduling, payroll inputs, and leave planning in coordination with the HR department.
• Prepare and submit operational reports, including guest activity numbers, equipment usage, revenue performance, and maintenance updates.
• Monitor inventory levels of diving equipment, gases, and accessories, ensuring timely procurement.
• Assist management with budgeting, pricing strategies, and revenue maximization of dive-related services.
• Work closely with the Front Office, Sustainability and Watersports teams to provide seamless guest experiences.
• Participate in cross-departmental meetings to ensure diving operations are well integrated with resort activities.
• Operate the property consistent with all legal, statutory and financial requirements and documentation, reporting systems, contractual obligations, security and safety protocols, communications, product and service standards, host management practices and budgetary controls are implemented, reviewed and maintained to ensure the successful operation of the hotel.
Qualifications
To execute the position of Dive Base Leader, I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results and includes the following:
• PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) or higher (IDC Staff Instructor preferred).
• Specialty Instructor ratings in Nitrox, Deep, and Night Diving (additional specialties an advantage).
• Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience in a dive center, preferably in a luxury resort environment.
• Strong background in dive operations management, equipment maintenance, and team supervision.
• Excellent knowledge of diving safety standards, emergency procedures, and equipment handling.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and people management skills.
• Exceptional guest service and communication skills, with a professional yet approachable demeanor.
• Good understanding of marine conservation and sustainable diving practices.
• Proficiency in dive center administration, reporting, and inventory management.
• Valid First Aid/CPR and Emergency Oxygen Provider certification (Instructor level preferred).
• Fluent in English.
• Physically fit and medically cleared for professional diving.
• Boat handling license and compressor maintenance knowledge an advantage
