As Director of Sales & Marketing, I will ensure all directives on environmental protection and preservation, re-usage and minimum wastage, purchasing and packaging such as the abolition of single-use plastic, social responsibility and all other practices documented in the Sustainability Guidelines are followed in my department and to maintain a harmonious and sensitive approach to our environment and cultural surroundings. I will follow the Sustainability Guidelines as they relate to my department and set goals to improve my department’s performance.

Operational Ownership

In this role, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation of my department to provide exceptional products and services within Six Senses brand operating standards and budget.

 

I will work strategically with the General Manager to develop cohesive and productive goals for my department and establish procedures/guidelines to achieve them.  I will maintain an overall consistency of the Company’s vision, quality/standards and develop concepts consistent with brand identity.

 

I will work collaboratively with the General Manager, Executive team and operations on correlated product standards and ensure that the brand provides a systematic culture that delivers excellent guest service results as measured by the brand, independent guest satisfaction company and social media vehicles in an effort to deliver on our promise to our guests and stakeholders. 


 

 

 

My scope of work includes:

  • Keep abreast of industry trends, market intelligence and competitor activity to continuously enhance the property's commercial performance.

  • Develop, implement and monitor the annual Sales & Marketing Business Plan aligned with the property's commercial objectives and long-term strategy.

  • Drive the right business at the right price to achieve budgeted occupancy, ADR, RevPAR and total revenue across Rooms, Food & Beverage, Spa, Meetings & Events and other revenue-generating outlets.

  • Lead the strategic direction of Sales, Marketing, Revenue and Events to maximize profitability while strengthening the positioning of the resort.

  • Partner closely with the Regional Commercial Director, Revenue Management and Operations teams to ensure alignment between commercial strategy and operational delivery.

  • Develop innovative products, experiences and commercial offers that strengthen the property's competitive positioning and enhance guest value.

  • Undertake advertising, sales, promotions, public relations and brand initiatives that reinforce Six Senses positioning in key source markets.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key luxury leisure, MICE, travel trade, corporate and strategic partners.

  • Attend industry trade shows, roadshows, client events and networking opportunities as a brand ambassador.

  • Monitor market benchmarks and competitor intelligence to proactively adjust pricing, segmentation and sales strategies.

  • Oversee all commercial reporting, including monthly performance analysis, forecasts, market share, production reports and strategic recommendations for ownership and executive leadership.

  • Prepare and present regular Month-End Reports summarizing commercial performance, key activities, achievements, challenges and action plans.

  • Create the Sales & Marking Budget 

  • Ensure all departmental budgets, including payroll and operating expenses, are effectively managed while maintaining brand standards.

  • Where operating within a cluster environment, ensure commercial alignment and collaboration across all assigned properties.

  • Lead cross-functional commercial projects that support revenue growth, operational excellence and guest satisfaction.

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of safety, security, crisis management and emergency procedures and actively participate in crisis management teams when required.

  • Ensure compliance with Six Senses operating standards, local legislation and applicable ISO or quality management standards.

 

People Management

As Director of Sales & Marketing, I am responsible for the management, performance and development of all hosts within my department through the provision of direction, encouragement, enthusiasm, discipline, performance evaluation and counselling to build a loyal, productive and effective team. 

Recruitment of the right people is intrinsic to delivering the Six Senses standard of service. I will work closely with Human Resources in identifying potential internal and external candidates

I will take a proactive approach to team development and mentorship, setting regular feedback sessions that focus on a results-driven approach balanced with mentorship and motivation to achieve. It is my job to ensure the team aims higher. 

I will maintain development and success plans to ensure future team leadership within the sales department. I will always behave in a professional manner and set an example to all. I will abide by Six Senses principles, core values, best practices, guidelines, and objectives, while respecting other cultures and nationalities and projecting a positive and proactive position to help build and maintain a strong, loyal team. 

I will set clear objectives and KPIs for your direct reports, holding the team accountable for meeting performance objectives and driving results. Where necessary, address any areas of concern with team performance, taking a candid approach to feedback and implementing corrective actions when required to ensure goals are met. Cultivate cross-functional collaboration to maximize operational efficiency and guest satisfaction. 

I will foster open communication and collaboration across Sales, Marketing, Revenue and Events teams to ensure alignment of objectives and seamless execution. 

I will coach and develop future commercial leaders through structured succession planning, performance management and continuous learning.

Responsible Business 

All activities will be carried out ethically, honestly and within the parameters of local law. I will ensure a safe and secure environment for guests, hosts and hotel assets in compliance with hotel’s or owner’s policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. I will maintain relations with outside contacts and drive host involvement in community organizations, activities and businesses.

I will actively support the property's emergency response and crisis management procedures and ensure my department remains fully prepared for business continuity and guest safety.

Skills and Experience

To execute the position of Director of Sales & Marketing I have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results. I possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Hotel or Business Management and more than five years’ experience in a senior sales and marketing role. 

I possess: 

  Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Marketing, Business Administration or related discipline. 

  Minimum five years' experience in a senior sales and marketing leadership position within luxury hotels or resorts. 

  Strong experience across Luxury Leisure, MICE, Corporate and Travel Trade market segments. 

  Established national and international luxury travel industry network. 

  Excellent commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, pricing strategy and revenue optimization. 

  Proven leadership experience in managing high-performing commercial teams. 

  Strong analytical, negotiation and presentation skills. 

  Advanced knowledge of CRM, PMS, Revenue Management and Microsoft Office applications. 

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French and additional languages are an advantage. 

  High degree of integrity, professionalism, discretion and strategic thinking.

 

I will maintain a thorough understanding of Six Senses in terms of guidelines, rules and regulations, brand and operating standards, facilities and services. 

 

Remarks

Specific days and timing are based on the business needs, seasonality and local labor laws. The role will also require standing and walking for extended periods of time. I also recognize that the role is dynamic and may change to meet operational requirements. My performance is measured directly against these job responsibilities. I understand there will be a requirement to travel for work-related meetings and events.
