Job Summary:

The Director of Meetings & Events leads the resort’s strategy, planning, and execution of group and event business across all market segments. This role is responsible for driving revenue, elevating service delivery, and ensuring flawless execution of corporate, incentive, and social events consistent with the Regent brand.

The ideal candidate will be a key member of the resort’s commercial leadership team, the Director oversees the Meetings & Events Managers and support team, providing mentorship, strategic direction, and performance management. The Director partners closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing, Revenue Management, Culinary, and Operations leaders to maximize profitability while delivering extraordinary guest experiences that foster loyalty and repeat business.

A little bit about your day:

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, every day is different, but you’ll mostly:

Strategic Leadership & Sales

  • Develop and execute the resort’s Meetings & Events strategy to achieve financial goals and market share growth.
  • Partner with the Sales & Marketing team to identify target markets, refine account strategies, and drive group and catering revenue.
  • Establish best practices and innovative approaches to elevate the resort’s positioning in the luxury events market.
  • Lead site visits, client presentations, and industry partnerships to attract new business opportunities.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and development for the Meetings & Events Services Managers and support staff.
  • Support the team in developing account plans, upselling strategies, and tailored event solutions to meet client objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that reflects Regent’s values of service, creativity, and excellence.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure the seamless planning and execution of all meetings and events through effective communication with Banquets, Culinary, AV, Rooms, and Spa teams.
  • Oversee the creation and accuracy of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), group resumes, and financial reporting.
  • Implement processes to ensure consistent service delivery at a Forbes 5-Star level.

Financial Performance

  • Drive profitability through proper cost controls, pricing strategies, and revenue maximization.
  • Provide accurate forecasting, budgeting, and reporting of group and catering revenues.
  • Regularly review performance against financial goals and adjust strategies as needed.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and vendors.
  • Act as a visible ambassador for the resort at industry events, trade shows, and client functions.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction scores for meetings and events meet or exceed luxury brand benchmarks.

What we need from you:

  • 5-7 years' experience in Meeting & Event leadership in a luxury hotel preferred.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrates a luxury service attitude and delivery style to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong sales skills and the ability to work and deal with different personalities.
  • Detail-oriented, comfortable with Delphi and other in-house systems.
  • Highly organized with exceptional time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Proven experience as a business leader in the areas of forecasting and budgeting.
  • Creative and able to elevate Catering execution to be the best in Santa Monica/Los Angeles.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

What you can expect from us: 

The annual pay range for this role is $130,000.00 to $150,000.00. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed at Regent Santa Monica Beach. This position is eligible for bonus pay.
