Crowne Plaza Carlton, due to open in February 2026, is a vibrant cosmopolitan hotel with everything you need to create your perfect urban getaway. Our guests’ safety and comfort always come first, which is why Crowne Plaza Melbourne Carlton is seeking out a master multi-tasker with the skills needed to keep our brand-new hotel looking and feeling its absolute best. Our new Maintenance Manager will join our pre-opening team and lead and coach a small but talented engineering team to stay one step ahead of our everyday maintenance needs.
A little taste of your day-to-day
Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:
- Being part of this pre-opening team will see you setting up this beautiful new hotel ready to receive its first guests
- Creating new ways of working, receiving hotel goods, and placing them in location, undertaking our IHG Service Training and inspire your new team to Crowne Plazas way of working
- Directing daily engineering needs to ensure the right team is always on the right task
- Creating a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for our guests to enjoy
- Maintaining and ordering parts and supplies whilst minimising waste and meeting our green initiatives
- Being flexible to react to ad-hoc duties where we have to unexpectedly pull together to get a task completed
- Building strong relationships with third-party contractors
- Manage day-to-day staffing needs, plan and assign work and establish performance and development goals for team members. Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to improve team member performance
- Educate and train team members in compliance with federal, state and local laws and safety regulations. Ensure staff are properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties
- Ensure your team are properly trained on systems, security, service and quality standards
What we need from you
- Advanced vocational training plus four years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Specialised expertise in plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry fields desired
- Hotel experience preferred
- Professional certification and license if required under Australian Law
