Nestled in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD, InterContinental Hotel Brisbane will open to guests this winter, offering 321 spacious hotel rooms and suites, all day dining restaurant and lobby bar, outdoor pool, fitness centre and Club Lounge, all in a prime location above Queen Street Mall, perfect for exploring the city’s top attractions. With over 1800 square metres of meeting and events spaces, InterContinental Brisbane offers versatile function rooms and a Grand Ballroom catering for up to 1000 guests, making it a great choice for business and leisure events alike.
With impressive meeting spaces, our C&E team will drive MICE business and support the execution of seamless banquets, corporate functions, parties and more, for all clients. As Conference & Event Sales Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in driving revenue through events and ensuring a high-end experience for guests.
A little taste of your day-to-day
Every day is different, but as part of our team, you will play a key role in:
- Secure catering and event business (social, corporate, weddings, galas, etc.) through proactive outreach, networking, and responding to inquiries.
- Develop and finalize event proposals, negotiate terms, and prepare contracts to meet or exceed revenue goals.
- Recommend additional services (A/V, décor, enhancements) to boost event spend and align with luxury service standards.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients from initial inquiry through post-event follow-up.
- Ensure high levels of client satisfaction, building long-term relationships and repeat business.
- Conduct site tours and tastings, often with VIP guests and planners.
- Collaborate with internal teams (events, F&B, culinary, A/V, rooms) to ensure every detail is executed flawlessly.
- Create detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event diagrams.
- Attend pre-con meetings and sometimes be on-site during high-profile or complex events.
- Partner with marketing to promote event spaces via digital campaigns, collateral, and local outreach.
- Support brand standards and contribute to the positioning of the hotel as a premier event venue.
- Maintain accurate records in CRM.
- Provide weekly/monthly forecasts, pacing reports, and sales pipeline updates.
What we need from you
- Previous experience in a hotel meetings and events setting
- Demonstrated of effective planning and executing high-profile events, including corporate, social, and private events
- Creativity and innovation to provide a unique and memorable event experiences for the clients
- Good business acumen and well versed of market trends
- Excellent negotiation, communication, flexible, creative and problem-solving skills
- Tertiary studies in event management, hospitality management or related field
- Fluent in the English language
- Impeccable grooming standards and good personal hygiene
- Full working rights in Australia without restrictions
