Are you passionate about creating authentic Arabic desserts that delight every guest? We’re looking for a Commis I – Arabic Sweets to join our talented culinary team. In this role, you’ll bring traditional flavors to life with precision, creativity, and attention to detail — ensuring our Arabic sweets section consistently delivers the highest standards.
A little taste of your day-to-day:Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:
Preparing a variety of traditional Arabic sweets and desserts (e.g., Kunafa, Baklava, Maamoul, Basbousa, Umm Ali, Halawet El Jibn, etc.) according to recipes and hotel standards.
Assisting in the daily mise en place, ensuring the Arabic sweets section is ready for service.
Ensuring the freshness, quality, and presentation of all Arabic pastries prepared in the section.
Working closely with the Pastry Chef and Chef de Partie to develop and improve new and existing Arabic desserts.
Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the pastry kitchen in line with HACCP and hotel policies.
Monitoring inventory levels, reporting shortages, and assisting with requisitions for the section.
Supporting smooth kitchen operations by collaborating with fellow Commis, Demi Chefs, and Chefs de Partie.
What we need from you:Previous experience as a Commis I or similar role in a 5-star hotel or reputable Arabic sweets/pastry kitchen.
In-depth knowledge of traditional Arabic desserts and preparation techniques.
Basic knowledge of HACCP and kitchen safety procedures.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
A passion for authentic flavors, creativity, and presentation.
Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and public holidays.
Culinary or pastry certification is an advantage.
