We’re searching for a Commis Chef to support our Culinary team in preparing quality food, maintaining high standards of hygiene and consistency, and developing your culinary skills in a professional hotel environment at Crowne Plaza Kathmandu Pulchowk.
A little taste of your day-to-day:
Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:
● Assisting the Chef de Partie and senior Culinary team with the daily preparation and operation of the assigned kitchen section
● Preparing ingredients and completing mise en place according to established recipes, standards, and instructions
● Assisting with basic food preparation and cooking under the guidance of the Chef de Partie or other senior Culinary colleagues
● Ensuring ingredients are properly cleaned, cut, portioned, stored, labeled, and prepared for service
● Supporting the timely preparation of food for restaurants, banquets, conferences, weddings, and special events as required
● Following standardized recipes and instructions to ensure consistency in taste, quality, portion, and presentation
● Assisting with the preparation of sauces, stocks, garnishes, vegetables, meats, seafood, and other food items according to the assigned section
● Supporting stock rotation, proper storage, and responsible use of ingredients to minimize food wastage
● Maintaining a clean, organized, and hygienic workstation throughout preparation and service
● Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, utensils, work surfaces, and other areas in accordance with hotel standards
● Assisting with the receiving, storage, labeling, and handling of food products as required
● Reporting shortages, quality concerns, equipment issues, or other operational requirements to the Chef de Partie or supervisor
● Supporting the Culinary team during busy service periods and assisting other kitchen sections when required
● Learning and developing culinary techniques, food preparation skills, kitchen procedures, and hotel standards through on-the-job training and coaching
● Supporting special culinary events, promotions, festive offerings, and other guest experiences as required
● Following all food safety, hygiene, health and safety, and workplace standards as required by local regulations
What We need from you:
● Diploma or higher education qualification in Culinary Arts, Hotel Management, or related field preferred
● Previous experience in a professional kitchen, hotel, restaurant, or hospitality environment preferred; freshers with relevant culinary qualifications and the right attitude may also be considered
● Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and mise en place
● Passion for food and genuine interest in developing a career in the Culinary profession
● Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills through hands-on training and guidance
● Good understanding of food hygiene, cleanliness, and safe food handling practices
● Good teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
● Ability to follow instructions and established recipes and procedures accurately
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining food quality and presentation standards
● Positive attitude, discipline, reliability, and willingness to support the Culinary team
● Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment and manage multiple tasks during service
● Knowledge of HACCP, food hygiene, and workplace safety standards as required by local regulations
