IHG Hotels & Resorts in Malta is seeking to appoint a highly accomplished Cluster Director of Sales, Marketing & Business Development to lead the Sales & Marketing function and drive business growth across its expanding portfolio of properties.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping demand, unlocking new revenue opportunities, and strengthening market positioning across InterContinental Malta, voco Malta, Holiday Inn Express Malta, as well as upcoming hotel openings forming part of IHG’s continued expansion in Malta.

This is a compelling leadership opportunity for a dynamic, results-oriented hospitality professional to drive demand generation, strategic partnerships, and sustained commercial growth across multiple properties within a globally recognised hospitality brand.

The role will oversee a Sales & Marketing division of approximately 20 professionals, structured across four core segments: Groups & Events, Wholesale & Leisure, Luxury & VIP, and Marketing. Each segment is led by a dedicated Director, all of whom report directly to the Cluster Director.

The role works in close collaboration with Revenue Management and Reservations, ensuring strong alignment between demand generation and revenue optimisation strategies.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong commercial acumen, proven leadership capabilities, and a track record of delivering measurable results within a multi-property or cluster environment.


Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy, Demand Generation & Business Growth

Develop and implement the cluster Sales and Marketing strategy to maximise demand, market share, and overall revenue performance across the portfolio.

Drive business growth across rooms, corporate accounts, groups, events, and food & beverage revenue streams.

Identify and activate new revenue opportunities, partnerships, and market segments to support long-term growth.

Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to continuously evolve the commercial approach.

Prepare and analyse sales forecasts, performance reports, and strategic action plans.

Represent the hotels at trade shows, industry events, and networking opportunities to generate new business.

 

Leadership & Team Development

Lead, inspire, and develop the cluster Sales and Marketing team.

Set clear targets and performance objectives aligned with commercial priorities.

Foster strong collaboration between Sales, Marketing, Revenue Management, Reservations, and hotel operations.

Provide coaching and guidance to ensure consistent high performance across all segments.

 

Client, Partnership & Market Development

Develop and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, travel partners, event organisers, and key stakeholders.

Build strategic partnerships locally and internationally to expand market reach and drive incremental business.

Oversee the coordination of group bookings, conferences, and corporate events across the hotels.

Ensure seamless communication with operational departments to deliver exceptional guest and client experiences.

 

Brand Positioning & Market Presence

Strengthen the local and international visibility of the hotels.

Work with marketing partners and agencies to deliver impactful campaigns aligned with brand standards.

Support positioning of new openings and evolving hotel concepts within the market.

Promote the hotels’ sustainability initiatives and responsible business practices as part of the commercial strategy.


What We Are Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in hospitality Sales and Marketing, including leadership of a commercial team.

Proven ability to develop and execute successful demand generation and business growth strategies.

Strong understanding of local market dynamics and corporate business networks.

Demonstrated ability to identify and convert new business opportunities and partnerships.

Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Fluency in English is required; Italian will be considered an advantage.

Experience with hotel openings, repositioning, or multi-property environments will be considered a strong asset.
