Who we are 

Crowne Plaza Auckland, an IHG hotel, has always delivered exceptional guest experiences including to our contracted corporate, government, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) segments. We are undergoing a large transformation project with an active redesign of our rooms, public areas, restaurants, and bars. At this exciting period, we are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive revenue growth by shaping and executing sales strategies, managing client relationships, and achieving revenue targets whilst working as part of the wider IHG go-to-market team. Reporting to the Business Development Director, this role is integral to the continued success and growth of the hotel. 

A snapshot of your day-to-day 

  • Lead and manage sales activities in line with the annual Business Plan and Strategic Sales Revenue Plan. 

  • Conduct client outreach, account management, and market research across New Zealand and Australia. 

  • Monitor competitor activity and provide market intelligence to inform strategy. 

  • Develop new business and grow existing accounts, including corporate, government, and TMC clients, and support national and global account directors. 

  • Plan and execute sales trips, site inspections, trade shows, and client engagement activities. 

  • Prepare and present reports, tenders, and account information to support strategic planning. 

  • Collaborate with Sales, Reservations, Revenue, and IHG National & Global Sales teams. 

  • Conduct on-the-job training, mentor team members, and communicate goals to drive performance. 

  • Manage budgets, negotiate rates, and achieve financial targets. 

  • Participate in revenue and yield meetings and contribute to departmental strategy. 

What we’re looking for 

  • 3+ years’ experience in business development or sales, with proven management experience 

  • Proven track record in corporate, MICE, or leisure market segments 

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management, Sales & Marketing, or related field preferred 

  • Knowledge of hotel systems (Delphi, Opera, IHG Concerto, Lighthouse) and revenue management principles could be beneficial 

  • Strong understanding of sales strategies, key account management, and new business development. 

  • Proven ability to build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships, including senior management. 

  • Excellent presentation, commercial, negotiation, and communication skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, persuade, and drive results 

  • Full working rights in New Zealand with no restrictions
