Barista

Duties & Responsibilities

• Greet all guests with a warm, friendly, and professional attitude.
• Prepare and serve a wide variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso-based drinks, specialty teas, and mocktails.
• Ensure consistency in drink quality, taste, and presentation according to brand standards.
• Provide recommendations and educate guests about the coffee and tea menu, including signature blends.
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and blenders efficiently and safely.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the barista station, equipment, and surrounding area at all times.
• Replenish stock and ingredients following FIFO and hygiene protocols.
• Assist in creating seasonal beverages and contribute to new product ideas.
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines as per IHG and local health authority standards.
• Handle guest feedback or complaints professionally, ensuring satisfaction is achieved.
• Work closely with the service and culinary teams for smooth café operations.
• Uphold grooming, uniform, and conduct standards in line with InterContinental brand expectations.
• Perform opening, closing, and handover duties accurately and responsibly.

Skills & Job Requirements (Local)

• Minimum 1–2 years of barista experience in a luxury hotel, premium café, or resort.
• Strong knowledge of coffee beans, brewing methods, milk textures, and flavour profiles.
• Barista certification or specialty coffee training (e.g., SCA) is a plus.
• Excellent guest service and communication skills.
• Passion for coffee culture, attention to detail, and creativity in presentation.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Arabic or a second language is an advantage.
• Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
• Well-groomed appearance and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
