Duties and Responsibilities
As In Barista, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation in the following:
• Greet guests on arrival in an efficient and friendly manner, using guest name whenever possible.
• Answer outlet telephone courteously and efficiently as specified in departments standards.
• Assist in the control of outlet operational budget, ensuring that all costs are strictly controlled maximizing profitability.
• Promote coffee consumption and tea blends by educating guests by selling coffee, tea blends and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies.
• Update signage and displays.
• Maintain a high standard of personal appearance, grooming and hygiene.
• Knowledge of all safety, security and emergency procedures related to my position in line with brand and statutory requirements.
• Ensure all equipment of the department is kept clean and in good working condition.
• Attend meetings and training as required.
• Knowledge and strict adherence to LQA standards.
Qualifications
To execute the position of Barista, I must have the required qualifications, technical skills and experience in a similar role in luxury hotels with proven results and includes the following:
• hospitality diploma/degree from a recognized hospitality or Barista school and more than one year’s experience in a similar operational role.
• I have experience in coffee and tea brewing and know the coffee and tea production process from growth to final beverage. I know the characteristics of the different types of coffee and tea and roasting process.
• I am familiar with Food and beverage terminology, application, operation, costs, menu development food and hygiene codes and controlling inventory.
• Technical skills include Advanced MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. I am also familiar with various hotel systems including MICROS/point of sell platforms. I have knowledge of hotel/resort and policies on discounts/food promotion etc.
• Fluent in English
