Position: Assistant Purchasing Manager

Crowne Plaza Amman is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Purchasing Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing, maintaining vendor relationships, and supporting smooth hotel operations in line with IHG standards.
Job Overview
Assist the Purchasing Manager in leading and supervising the purchasing function of the hotel to ensure smooth operations, cost-effective procurement, and compliance with company standards. Support in developing supplier relationships, managing contracts, and implementing purchasing strategies to maximize value while maintaining quality standards. Act as deputy to the Purchasing Manager in their absence.

Supervise and oversee the daily purchasing operations ensuring compliance with IHG policies and internal controls.
Negotiate and review supplier contracts to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
Monitor purchase orders and contracts to ensure timely delivery and cost effectiveness.
Support budget planning and forecasting by providing purchasing data and insights.
Coordinate with Finance on invoice processing and month-end inventory closing.
Assist in supplier evaluation and tender processes.
PEOPLESupervise and mentor the Purchasing Officers and team members.
Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
Foster effective communication between the purchasing team and other hotel departments.
Liaise with Department Heads and the Purchasing Manager on purchasing requirements and issues.
GUEST EXPERIENCEEnsure that all purchased goods and services meet quality standards and support hotel service excellence.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers to understand and fulfill operational needs.
RESPONSIBLE BUSINESSEnsure compliance with IHG policies, statutory regulations, and hotel standards in all procurement activities.
Establish and monitor purchasing specifications and procedures.
Ensure accurate record keeping and timely reporting.
Promote sustainable procurement practices and responsible supplier sourcing.
Monitor health, safety, and security procedures in line with company standards.
HEALTH, SAFETY AND SECURITYDemonstrate awareness of all company policies relating to health, hygiene, and fire life safety.
Ensure purchasing team members follow OH&S procedures.
Report and act on any safety hazards, security incidents, or accidents.
ACCOUNTABILITYDeputize for the Purchasing Manager when required.
Ensure compliance with purchasing controls, audits, and CSA requirements.
Maintain confidentiality and security of purchasing records and data.
Report directly to the Purchasing Manager and support on all matters related to purchasing strategy, supplier management, and financial controls.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or assistant manager role.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in purchasing systems and Microsoft Office applications.
