The Assistant Director of Sales supports the Director of Sales & Marketing in leading and driving the hotel’s commercial performance by developing and implementing effective sales strategies. This role is responsible for managing key accounts, strengthening relationships with corporate, MICE, and leisure partners, and ensuring the achievement of revenue targets across all market segments. The position also plays a vital role in coaching the sales team to maximize productivity and uphold the Crowne Plaza brand standards and IHG’s commercial excellence principles.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Support the Director of Sales & Marketing in formulating and executing the annual Sales Plan aligned with the hotel’s business objectives.
- Develop and implement sales action plans for each market segment (Corporate, Government, MICE, Groups, and Leisure).
- Analyze market trends, competitor performance, and business opportunities to identify potential revenue streams.
- Manage assigned key accounts and maintain strong, long-term relationships to ensure continued business growth.
- Participate in developing pricing and yield strategies in collaboration with the Revenue Manager and Director of Sales & Marketing.
- Supervise and mentor Sales Managers and Executives, ensuring achievement of individual and team sales targets.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide coaching, and identify training needs to enhance team capabilities.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment in line with IHG’s “Great Hotels Guests Love” culture.
- Ensure consistent high-level engagement with key clients, travel trade partners, and corporate accounts.
- Attend major industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to represent the hotel and grow the client base.
- Lead site inspections, client entertainment activities, and familiarization trips to showcase the property.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports and forecasts for management review.
- Monitor production performance of key accounts and adjust strategies to ensure targets are met.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of account data and activities in the CRM system.
- Work closely with the Revenue, Marketing, and Events teams to ensure alignment of sales initiatives and promotional campaigns.
- Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure seamless delivery of client expectations.
- Uphold IHG’s commercial and brand standards in all sales and communication activities.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in hotel sales, with at least 2 years in a leadership or assistant director capacity.
- Proven track record in achieving and exceeding revenue targets in an upscale hotel or resort environment.
- Strong understanding of the Muscat and GCC market, particularly in the MICE and corporate segments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Opera PMS, Delphi, or similar sales systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel locally and internationally for business development.
