Job Scope

Under the general guidance of the General Manager or their delegate, and within the limits of established IHG policies and local procedures, the Executive Housekeeper is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of Housekeeping operations. This includes the management and quality control of guest rooms, public areas, laundry services, and designated back-of-house spaces.

The role is essential in delivering the IHG Clean Promise, ensuring a consistently clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and colleagues alike. The Executive Housekeeper ensures the highest level of cleanliness and presentation throughout the hotel, while maintaining operational efficiency, budget control, and team engagement.

Your Day to Day

As Executive Housekeeper, you’ll be the guardian of our hotel’s cleanliness and presentation—leading by example and ensuring our guests experience exceptional care, comfort, and confidence in every stay.

You will lead a passionate and professional Housekeeping team, delivering 5-star luxury through our global IHG Way of Clean—a rigorous system of enhanced cleanliness protocols developed with experts from Ecolab and Diversey.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the housekeeping team in implementing and maintaining the IHG Way of Clean and IHG Clean Promise standards across guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and laundry.
  • Conduct daily inspections and audits to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and safety protocols meet IHG brand requirements and local regulations.
  • Coach and develop the team to consistently deliver personalized service and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Champion sustainability and waste-reduction initiatives aligned with IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow.
  • Monitor guest feedback (SALT, Medallia, online reviews) and drive continuous improvement in housekeeping operations.
  • Collaborate closely with Front Office, Engineering, and other departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
  • Manage housekeeping inventory, cost controls, and departmental budgets efficiently without compromising standards.
  • Oversee training in health and safety, chemical handling, and guest interaction protocols, especially those linked to hygiene and well-being.

 

Key Relationships

Guests: Interacts regularly with guests to ensure their satisfaction, handle feedback, and resolve any housekeeping-related concerns professionally and promptly.

Internal Stakeholders: Cooperates and communicates effectively with:

  • Front Office for room readiness, VIP arrangements, and guest preferences.
  • POMEC (Engineering) for maintenance issues, room status coordination, and preventive upkeep.
  • Laundry Department to ensure quality and timely delivery of linens and uniforms.
  • Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, Banquets, and Spa to align housekeeping operations with event schedules and guest services.

External Stakeholders: Maintains strong relationships with:

  • Vendors and suppliers for housekeeping products, linen, amenities, and equipment.
  • Contractors for outsourced services (e.g., deep cleaning, pest control, upholstery care).
  • Labor representatives or relevant authorities as required to ensure compliance and good labor relations.
  • Industry peers and competitors for market benchmarking and best practice awareness.
 
What We Need from You
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within Housekeeping, ideally at a 5-star or luxury IHG property.
  • Deep knowledge of IHG brand standards, service delivery, and hygiene practices.
  • Familiarity with housekeeping technology
  • Inspirational leadership with strong team-building and communication skills.
  • A commitment to guest satisfaction, safety, and service excellence.
  • Diploma or degree in Hospitality or a related field is a plus.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, as needed in a luxury hotel environment.
