The Chief Steward at Kimpton Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong supervises and coordinates activities of pantry, storeroom, and non-cooking kitchen workers, as well as purchases kitchen supplies and equipment. This role involves ensuring cleanliness and order in kitchens, workrooms, and storerooms, and coordinating the work of non-cooking kitchen and storeroom workers. 

A little taste of your day-to-day Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be: 

  • Supervising and coordinating activities of pantry, storeroom, and non-cooking kitchen workers 
  • Inspecting kitchens, workrooms, storerooms, and equipment for cleanliness and order 
  • Coordinating work of non-cooking kitchen and storeroom workers engaged in dishwashing, silver cleaning, and storage and distribution of foodstuffs and supplies 
  • Conferring with Manager or catering department concerning banquet arrangements for food service, equipment, and extra employees 
  • Hiring and discharging employees, posting time and production records 
  • Observing and evaluating employees' performance to improve efficiency and guard against theft and wastage 
  • Taking inventories of china, silverware, and glassware, reporting shortages, and requisitioning replacement of equipment. 

What we need from you 

  • A minimum of 2 years proven experience in supervising and coordinating kitchen and storeroom activities for full-service hotels 
  • A diploma or vocational certificate in culinary skills, hospitality management or related field 
  • Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and order in kitchen facilities 
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and requisitioning replacement of equipment 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with managers and catering departments 
  • Ability to hire, train, and evaluate employees effectively 
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required 
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office 
  • Good command in both English and Chinese, speaking and writing.
