A little taste of your day-to-day:

 
Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:
  • Ensure that the kitchen is kept clean and tidy and that all work surfaces are kept clean.
  • Assist the Chief Steward that all Health and Safety and Food Safety regulations are adhered to regarding the kitchen areas.
  • Report any faults on kitchen equipment and fittings to maintenance and follow through on what action is taken.
  • Ensure all duties on the cleaning roster are carried out according to hotel standards.
  • Ensure that an adequate supply of clean crockery and cutlery is provided for Restaurants, Lounge, Room Service and Banqueting.
  • Ensure that the Chefs are provided with an adequate supply of clean utensils and equipment.
  • Monitor the standards of performance of the charge hands and kitchen porters and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Assist the Chief Steward in ensuring that all shifts are covered.
  • Assist the Chief Steward with training and induction of new staff, to enable them to carry out their duties according to standards.
  • Ensure that due diligence sheets are filled out and that standards of cleanliness in all Kitchens and Food & Beverage Back of House areas are checked on a daily basis.
  • Attend Food & Beverage meetings on a regular basis.
  • Carry out any other duties within the food and beverage department which may be required.


What we need from you:
 

  • Good level of spoken/written English
  • Flexibility in shifts & tasks
  • Organizational, leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to train others
  • Good knowledge on HACCP
  • Minimum two years of experience in a similar environment (5-star hotel)
