Business Title: Manager – Capital Accounting

Purpose of the Role The role oversees Fixed Asset Processes (FAP), project capitalization, impairment assessments, and ensures alignment with IHG’s global accounting policies and internal controls. The position involves managing a team that delivers timely and accurate financial reporting, analytical insights, and governance over capital projects and lease accounting. Process Delivery • Oversee the Fixed Asset Process (FAP) including asset additions, disposals, impairments, transfers, and depreciation in accordance with IHG policy.
• Ensure correct application of IFRS 15 & 16 in all relevant transactions.
• Oversee lease accounting entries and data integrity within lease management systems.
• Perform periodic reconciliations between subledger and general ledger.
• Accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual close deliverables.
• Compliance with SLAs and internal timelines.
Compliance & Controls • Ensure compliance with SOX, IFRS, and IHG Global Accounting Policies.
• Maintain robust internal control environment, identify and mitigate risk areas.
• Coordinate with auditors and manage audit queries and documentation.
• Maintain governance around capitalization thresholds and accounting treatment consistency.
• Successful audit outcomes.
• Zero high-risk control issues.
• Timely closure of audit points.
Reporting & Analytics • Deliver analysis on capital trends, project performance, and asset utilization.
• Partner with COE, FP&A, and FBP teams for accurate management reporting.
• Support senior management with insights for capital expenditure and lease commitments.
• Accuracy of reporting packs and dashboards.
• Quality of variance analysis and insights.
People & Stakeholder Management

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
• Ensure effective resource allocation and workload balance.
• Collaborate with global stakeholders across Finance, Technology, and Audit.
• Act as escalation point for process and compliance issues.

Required Education, Experience, Technical Skills, and Knowledge

Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Professional qualification (CA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent) preferred.

Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance with significant exposure to Fixed Asset Accounting, IFRS 15 & 16, and Project Accounting.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing teams in a shared services or global finance environment.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of Fixed Asset & Lease Accounting principles and processes.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (PeopleSoft, Oracle, or SAP).
- Strong analytical and Excel skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop people.
- Sound knowledge of IHG policies, controls, and governance frameworks.
