DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

Position Summary

The primary role of the Director of Sales & Marketing is to ensure the overall success of the hotel by meeting or exceeding top-line revenue goals, efficiently managing sales and marketing expenses, training and developing sales team members, and actively participating in company events and programs. This includes daily sales efforts to bring in new business, strengthen relationships with existing clients, overall positioning of the hotel, brand communication, and the development of guests for the property, encompassing rooms, dining outlets, and events. Furthermore, they are responsible for implementing yield strategies, monitoring market performance, forecasting, and achieving optimal business mix targets. Strategies will encompass pricing, direct sales, market mix, marketing, and public relations. Candidates must have a dynamic leadership style, excellent communication and decision-making skills, networking abilities, and astute business acumen. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic Sales and Marketing plans for the Hotel designed to achieve Company financial objectives. This includes all revenue streams of a full-service operation.
  • Prepare 30-60-90 Day Revenue Forecast and analyze current/potential market and sales trends.
  • Coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet established revenue plan.
  • Create effective Sales Programs that will increase awareness and foster a positive perception of the Hotel, its activities, culinary services, and personnel.
  • Support hotel B2B marketing, digital marketing, social media, public relations, and communications activities. Guide the e-Commerce teams to ensure online hotel content is accurate and effective.
  • Establish performance and development goals for team members and implement continuous improvement plans.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and regular feedback to help manage conflict, improve team member performance, and recognize good performance. Ensure that team members have market data, tools, and equipment to be successful.
  • Work closely with key business leaders, officials, and representatives of local community groups within the city to ensure constant high-profile exposure for the hotel.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the travel industry, current market trends, and economic factors.
  • Continuously analyze the international event market, identifying trends, competition, and opportunities
  • Develop rates and group sales deployment strategies through a review of competitive data, demand analysis, and mix management.
  • Direct and manage all group, transient, and banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel.
  • Monitor the production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within the market.
  • Prepare and control the hotel budget for sales, promotions, and advertising.
  • Manage all sales-related product invoicing and contracting due dates.
  • Represent the Hotel at trade shows, conventions, receptions, and promotional events.
  • Participate in sales calls with team members and independently, to acquire/close new business.
  • Effectively communicate and market aspects of the hotel that are sustainable or “green” and use information to gain new business opportunities.
  • Ad-hoc duties – unexpected moments when we have to pull together to get a task done.

 

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Hospitality Sales & Marketing.
  • Three or more years of experience in a full-service Hotel Sales and Marketing setting, with direct Sales team leadership experience.
  • You will be a creative and results-driven individual, with strong leadership skills, and a passion for delivering excellence.
  • Knowledge of selling to all market segments, with experience in international events and airline markets being an asset.
  • Proven track record in sales and marketing with the ability to build and foster relationships.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commercially focused mindset with a keen eye for detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding/experience of Hotel Operations in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong presentation, pitching, and negotiation skills.
  • GCC market knowledge is an asset.
