Purpose of the Role
The Director, Design SEAK plays a pivotal role in supporting IHG’s strategic growth and estate quality across Southeast Asia & Korea. This senior leadership position oversees design aspects of new builds, conversions, and renovations for both managed and franchised hotels, ensuring brand compliance and enhancing owner and shareholder value. The role demands high autonomy, technical expertise, and strategic influence within the region.
Key Responsibilities Project Oversight & Technical Services
- Provide design and technical support for new builds, conversions, re-brandings, and refurbishments.
- Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards and design guides.
- Manage Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) and oversee execution quality.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, owners, consultants, and contractors.
- Represent IHG in project discussions and industry forums.
Pre-Opening & Operating Estate Support
- Collaborate with Hotel Openings Team on design completion and certification.
- Support operating hotels with design compliance and site visits as needed.
Regional Design Capability Development
- Expand IHG’s consultant network in SEAK.
- Share best practices across regional and global teams.
Key Metrics
- System size growth and in-year conversions.
- Carbon footprint reduction aligned with ‘Journey to Tomorrow’.
- TSF collection and brand-aligned product delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, or related field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in hospitality design and construction.
- Strong understanding of SE Asia & Korea’s business and operational environments.
- Experience with global organizations and multi-cultural teams.
