Your day to day

Undertakes Design & Engineering activities in region to include due diligence inspections and reporting; design and documentation review to drive the delivery of design excellence and brand defining hotels with a focus on appropriate operating efficiencies and owners’ return on investment; and pre-opening inspections to ensure compliance to all IHG standards.

Key Accountabilities

•Works closely with the region’s development team in the review of properties that are considered for acquisition, management or franchise into a IHG brand. With Engineering team to provide creative design solutions and on brand design strategies to tackle any project issues.
•Executes Technical Services Agreements in Middle East and Africa with state-of-the-art and cost-efficient designs, space planning, interior design, engineering, and construction and project management techniques.
•Manages the process of reviewing pipeline IHG Hotel projects in terms of IHG design standards, including concept design, documentation and inspections, as well as the Pre-opening inspections.
•Works closely with the Senior Design & Engineering Director to understand owner investment goals, brand strategies and standards for each project through internal presentations at key design stages.
•Ensures that quality of work and structurally safe designs and standards are followed and maintained at all properties to protect integrity/image of brands.  Provides technical assistance to owners in the development of project plans and consults on interior design and other related activities throughout the project lifespan from inception through to handover to IHG operating teams. Lead and manage workflow as required to ensure projects progress on a timely basis. Communicate key decisions including cost impact, resource, dateline and brand compliance to internal & external stakeholder. ensuring cost efficiency.
•Works closely with Engineering function within the region to collaborate on issues impacting new, conversion or renovation project plans and related costs to ensure objectives are achieved and consistency in standards.
•Provide feedback to brand teams on trend and challenges to refine Brand Standards, design guides and shape future requirements.

 

What we need from you

Required Experience:

Education –

Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, Interior Architecture or Interior Design orr a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Experience –

Typically, 10 years or more direct combined experience in design, construction, project management in a multi-national company and service branded environment, with specific to hospitality a preference.
Strong knowledge of architectural, design, and construction principles, with an understanding of applicable laws.
Major emphasis on design excellence and experience in quality design delivery.
Flexible interpersonal style; effective communication and project management skills; strong influencing skills; experience in a multi-national environment and ability to deal with different cultural issues and competing requirements.
