What’s the job?  As Business Development Executive, you will manage Social and Corporate Meetings and Events sales activities in line with the annual sales and marketing plan to achieve and exceed the budget for the hotel. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring competitors’ activities, assisting in gathering market intelligence, and selling to new, existing, and prospective customers in line with the goals set. 

Your day to day

People

  • Actively participate in all training sessions and ensure that any pre and post-course work is completed by the due date.
  • Ensure active management of individual GAPs and personal development plans.
  • Proactively manage key relationships with GMs, Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, National
  • Sales and other areas to ensure alignment across the region driving regular communication.
  • Embrace the IHG Vision, Winning Ways, Purpose, Brands, and overarching IHG Way of Sales and ways of working.

Guest Experience

  • Deliver to Crowne Plaza Meeting Success hallmarks.
  • Ensure that all client requirements at the point of confirmation are handed over to an assigned Crowne
  • Ensure client feedback is communicated and acted upon internally and manage the resolution of any issues with the client within 48 hours.
  • Carry out reactive and proactive sales activities to drive new business and cement relationships with existing clients.
  • Understand competitor’s product and service delivery.
  • Support sales initiatives for each property with client entertainment, familiarisations, and other events that form part of the sales and marketing plan.
  • Develop and maintain strong relations with stakeholders whose support, cooperation, and services are critical to the success of sales.
  • Communicate client requirements and other relevant account/segment information to all relevant departments to ensure their expectations are exceeded.

Financial

  • Follow up and negotiate on sales leads and business quotes to ensure business is secured both reactive and proactive (proactive when required)
  • Demonstrate understanding of client needs whilst optimising Hotel revenue through yield management and upselling of Hotel facilities and services
  • In conjunction with the Business Development Manager understand the long-range forecast of the business and what tactical measures and pricing strategies are required to meet budgeted revenue targets.
  • Employ appropriate actions to exceed Hotels’ revenue budgets and forecasts. Inclusive of C&E and accommodation revenue for meetings-related market segments.
  • Follow up with the client to identify further business opportunities.
  • Tailor RFPs/proposals to meet client needs.
  • Actively pursue opportunities to enlarge the sales base, create an ongoing pipeline, and successfully shift business from the competition through active engagement with the customer via voice conversations.

What we need from you

  • Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in marketing or related field 
  • One to two years of experience in a hospitality or hotel sales and marketing setting with direct supervisory experience over a sales team, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Sound knowledge of sales principles and techniques
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of new business hunting and strategies for key account management
